Coffee, Cults, and Empires

This is a story-within-a-story-within-a-story. Like one of those nesting dolls if the dolls were improvised and funnier. No offense to nesting dolls.

The show’s core is a D&D actual play podcast about four adventurers (five, if you include Justice the cheetah, and really, it’s safer to do so) hired to investigate a mysterious assault by giant spiders.

But, wait! There’s more! Wrapped around it are the stories of five professors, who are playing the game not in a fantasy world, but in their own past — 1000 years ago. After being told by their gods that their world is ending (again, sigh), they’ve chosen to spend their time doing what they enjoy.

But that’s not all! Wrapped around that is the story of the Intern, the host who is extremely non-creepily recording the podcast without the professor’s knowledge. To them, he’s the only god who wants to spare the world, but in the corporate science lab where the world was made, his biggest challenge is avoiding getting his boss’s fancy coffee order wrong… again.
